Kenzie Mack Interview

Why do short stories appeal to you?

I’ve become a big fan of the short story in the last few years.  It’s great to be able to start and finish a story before going to sleep.  I used to end up reading most of the night, but with a shorter story I can enjoy a tale and still catch some shut-eye.

What’s your favorite thing about writing?

Aside from meeting many fantastic and friendly writers, I enjoy the creative expression of writing.  Sometimes a story flows and other times it takes hard work to pull out.  But it is always unique.

Hopes for the future…

I have a zombie series I’ve been working on for years.  I finally feel like it’s ready to go out into the world, but I have to find the proper fit for publishing this baby.  It is very near and dear to my heart.

Here is a never before seen excerpt from Moon Dances.  Enjoy ~

John’s lungs burned for more oxygen.  He bent, palms on thighs and inhaled short jagged breaths.  Even though he made a living keeping people in shape, Ebony outran him like an Olympian would a toddling baby.

From the corner of his vision, he spotted Ebony’s sweet bare ass strutting past him and into the clearing.

“Take your time,” Ebony said, throwing him an over-the-shoulder wink.  “That spanking will have to wait.”

The attractive silver-haired man who offered John a bread basket earlier at the barbeque restaurant, greeted Ebony.  They shared a light embrace before standing side by side to stare at him.

John straightened and inhaled to his maximum lung capacity.  After a long slow exhale, he entered the clearing.  The attractive blue-eyed bread server wore a warm smile and his birthday suit.  Ebony and the lean man of an undeterminable age chatted as if interacting in the nude was the norm.

The pretty and perky tawny-haired twins frolicked behind them.  The blond pair wore sheer togas draped across their curvy naked forms.  Were all shifters this hot?  Maybe they only recruited super models.  But then how’d he make the cut?

Yes, his bone structure was good.  He’d heard people use the word chiseled while describing him, but his eyes were too close together and a bland, boring shade of blue.  Not the striking sky blue of the man before him.  John simply wasn’t gorgeous like these folks.

He stretched his neck to one side until a soft pop sounded.  Dressed in jeans, sneakers and a t-shirt, he stood out like a fur-wearing Eskimo among sunbathers on a beach.

He chewed the inside of his cheek and studied the physical perfection of the group.  The only area in which he exceeded all of them was his muscle mass.  Ten points for being the group’s brawn.  He shoved his hands into his front pockets.

“John,” Ebony said, “I want to formally introduce you to Aaron.”

Aaron’s easy smile and extended hand helped put John at ease.

“It’s good to see you again,” Aaron said, meeting John’s firm grip with one of equal pressure.

John hated men who wanted a strength test at first meeting.  Aaron was okay.

“Likewise.”  John hitched his head.  He tried not to stare at the man’s gorgeous cock, but the appendage could have been used to sculpt an exhibit devoted to the perfect penis.

“It’s something to behold,” Ebony said, esteem threading each word.

John released Aaron’s hand and grabbed Ebony’s, pulling his honest mate into his arms for a kiss and welcomed distraction from Aaron’s anatomy.  After a short tongue dance and longer neck nuzzle, he felt ready to meet the others.

Ebony steered him to an empty log covered with a blanket.  To his relief, when Aaron sat on the ground beside them, he had magically donned a pair of cargo pants.  Loose-fitting cargo pants.

The Playboy bunny girls were making out on another blanket a few feet away.

“Do they ever quit?”  John whispered into Ebony’s ear.

“Not in the three decades I’ve known them.”

“Huh?”  John looked closer at the blonds.  “They don’t look a day over twenty.”

“Time moves differently for us.”

Ebony squeezed his hand and placed a soft kiss on his knuckles.
